These bars can form numerous simple bar structures with different angles. The bar forces occurring during  the exercises are measured by the deformation of the springs situated in the middle of the bar with the dial gauges.
The Unit for studying Forces in a Simple Bar Structure represents a simple bar structure that allows the measurement of bar forces  and the comparison of the experimental results with the calculations and the graphical method.
The set of weights and a weight holder are used to apply external load in the upper disc of the simple bar structure.

The Brinell, Vickers and Rockwell Hardness Testing Unit  consists of a hardness testing machine that determines the three main types of hardness (Brinell, Vickers and Rockwell) in metals, hard alloys, quenched steels, etc. The Rockwell method generates a small size imprint during the test. It employs small quenched steel balls of different diameter or cones made of  diamond for the indentation.
A penetrating ball of specific diameter is used in the Brinell hardness test to press the surface of the test piece with a specific force. The  unit  employs balls of 2.5 mm. and 5 mm.
Besides it can also be used to measure the hardness of other materials, such as rigid plastics, bakelite, etc.
The Vickers method allows to measure the hardness of practically all metallic materials, regardless their state and thickness. It employs a square  base pyramid-shaped indenter. Such indenter is applied perpendicularly to the surface whose hardness is going to be measured.
The most common method used to calculate the hardness of a metal is measuring the indentation strength with the aid of a tool of specific  geometry. It consists on measuring the imprint generated when exerting a preset load on the test piece for a certain time.

The unit is mounted on an anodized aluminum structure with painted steel panel.
Test rods: standard supply of 3 test rods: steel, brass and aluminum. They are 8 mm in diameter and 350 mm in length. They have marks  every 50 mm, to make the performance of practical exercises at different lengths easier.
The two guides of the unit on which the mobile clamp slides are for testing rods of different lengths.
Fixed clamp, consists of two bearings which allow it to turn. It has an arm on which the force is applied. It has a notch placed 60 mm from  the longitudinal axis of the test rod, to carry out the measurements. The dial gauge should be placed on this notch to properly measure the deformation. The clamp is made of stainless steel.

The unit allows to study the buckling of pieces of different lengths, ranging from 300 mm. to 625 mm, to which different support conditions can be applied:
Rigidly fixed end conditions.
Pin-joined end conditions.
One end pinned and the other fixed.
To measure the compression force exerted on the structure, there is a system composed of an elastic ring whose deformation is measured.
The compression force will be directly proportional to the deformation registered in a dial gauge.
To carry out the practical exercises correctly, it is very important to apply the force with an only axial component. For that purpose, the unit has a differential screw placed at one end, which allows the system compression.

Computer Controlled Noise Control Demonstration Unit

A rigid enclosure with acoustic lining may be placed over either noise source and attachments allow investigation of sound attenuation in ducts.
Each of two microphones may be connected to a DBA Filter and illuminated bar display to show relative loudness.
A self-contained unit for the demonstration of the methods of noise and vibration control. Variable control of both voltage sources allows speed control of both motors. An integral 240v electric motor and gearbox together with a 12v fan unit provide two noise sources.
Resilient mountings and mount bypass equipment allows investigation of modes of vibration at various frequencies and transmission of noise through solids.

Fatigue Testing Unit

With this unit, it is possible to determine the basic principles of the fatigue strength testing.
On the panel's right side, it is placed the system with which the test specimen is loaded. This system is composed by a sping balance, which is joined to a threaded spindle by its upper end, while on its lower side, it is joined to an articulated guided system, in which it is held the right side of the test specimen. When turning the threaded spindle clockwise, we transmit a vertical force upwards to the test specimen.
On the lower panel of the unit, it is fixed an electric motor which axis is joined to an end of the test specimen (test bar) by means of a coupling. As well, this axis has a disc, which by means a device will count the number of turns of the motor.
In order to guarantee the force verticality, the system has two guides to avoid horizontal displacements during the transmission of stress.
The applied force can be directly measured using the spring balance.
On the upper panel, the unit control box is mounted, containing: the main (on/off) switch of the unit; the cycle counter that shows us the quantity of turns the motor's axis carries out; the motor's speed control that permits us increase or diminish the turning speed of the electric motor; the motor speed display that shows us the frequency in Hz, which is being transmitted to the motor at every moment; and the on/off switch of the electric motor.
Likewise, in order to assure the constant application of the load, besides of allowing the test specimen rotation on its axial axis, the system also permits the alignment of the coupling with the test specimen, due to the deformity suffered by bending.
Both the area where the test specimen is located and the motor axis outcome are covered with a protection cover, without it the unit does not work, since it is provided with a safety system to avoid accidents.

Computer Controlled Ventilation Trainer

The power consumption of the fan is indicated on the switch cabinet using a voltmeter and an ammeter. For this purpose, an inclined tube manometer with 2 measuring ranges and a digital handheld unit for the measurement of the air velocity are included, along with numerous other components. Once the trainee has built a ventilation system independently, the effects of bends, branches, regulator flaps on the airflow rate, the air velocity, as well as the pressure loss can be investigated. The components are the same as those used in ventilation engineering.
