Advanced Training Unit for Fault Location is mounted on a wheeled steel frame with stainless steel base and back panels and incorporates:- A Semi-Hermetic compressor 0.37 kW nominal duty, Air cooled Condenser with aluminium finned, copper coil; two display-case evaporators. Aluminium finned, copper coils with hot gas defrosting; a liquid receiver; 2 thermostatic expansion valves; Low and high-pressure control, evaporator pressure control, capacity control, thermostatic control, condensing pressure control and crankcase pressure control, low pressure switch, high pressure switch.
For student practice up to 25 refrigeration and electrical faults may be introduced into the system. Advanced Training Unit for Fault Location is constructed entirely from standard commercial components, including all of the necessary primary and safety controls and will give students valuable experience of system adjustment and fault finding on a multi-evaporator three phase refrigeration system.
A small microphone may be moved axially along the tube and Acoustic Impedence Tube position measured. The loudspeakers are fed with a common pure tone from a function generator and the sound waves pass along the tube to the sample. The Acoustic Impedence Tube consists of a transparent plastic tube fitted at one end with a glass reinforced plastic enclosure containing two loudspeakers and at the other with a heavy sample holder. The portion absorbed being converted into heat by the viscous action of the airborne wave as Acoustic Impedence Tube passes through the absorber. Dependent upon the type of material and the tone frequency, a portion of the sound energy is absorbed and the remainder is reflected back along the tube.

A storage case contains all the elements of the Check Valve Assembly, and the technical drawings, list of parts and instruction manual give the student all the necessary tools to assemble the valve, and the operate the valve afterwards. The Check Valve Assembly is designed for the students to become familiar with the assembly, functionality and operation of an industry standard check valve.

Fire Alarm Trainer activates the detector and sets off the alarm system. The case has an internal divider and separate heater lamps designed to raise the temperature within the enclosure above the detector limits. A two zone Fire Alarm Trainer control panel to Fire Alarm Trainer is mounted on the front of a glass reinforced plastic panel. One detector zone consists of a temperature detector and rate of rise temperature detector mounted in a fire retardant glass reinforced plastic case.
Apertures at the base of the box allow combustion products from a match or lighter or visible smoke from the generator supplied to be injected into the enclosure housing the two types of detector. The second detector circuit consists of a manual call point followed by an optical smoke detector and ionised particle detector mounted in a similar box to the heat detectors.
